I have a 92 Vulcan. Its a small inline twin (500). Sometimes it runs fine, sometimes it misses. I can ride it for miles and then it will miss for a while and then run fine again. I thought was picking up dirt in the carbs. I took it to the shop and they rode it and got it to act up with them. So, they checked the carbs, nothing. Clean as a whistle. Checked the pickup coils, the ignition coils, everything checked out perfect. The shop told me the only other thing they can think of is the cdi unit. Apparently this tells the bike when to fire, sort of like the computer in a car. If this is not it I'm stuck and so are they. Any ideas? Everything except this cdi unit has been checked and all check out fine. By the way, they can't check the cdi unit because they don't have the tool. They told me that most shops don't have this tool. I guess this part doesn't go bad that often. So, the only way they can check it is to order one and install it and hope for the best. I would appreaciate any help. If you want to see the bike, its in the picture gallery of my webpage. Thanks again,
Jeff
